Thanksgiving Day Turkey

Preheat the oven to 300F

Stuff the bird with dressing

Tie the legs together

Rub with olive oil, salt, and pepper

Place in a roasting pan

Cover and put into the oven

Check the cooking time on the package and use that

At about 3/4 of the way through the cooking time

Remove the cover so that the turkey will brown and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 165F in the breast, the juices run clear, and the drumsticks move easily in their sockets

Remove the turkey from the oven and let rest for at least 20 minutes while you make the mashed potatoes and gravy
