
Ingredients
For the cookie
1/2C Packed brown sugar
2/3C Softened butter
1/2C Corn syrup
1ea Egg
1t Vanilla
2C AP flour
For the topping
1/3C Packed brown sugar
1/3C Corn syrup
4T Butter
2T Heavy cream
1t Vanilla
1C Sliced almonds
1/4t Salt
Process
For the cookies
Heat the oven to 350F
Grease a jelly roll pan 15-1/2 x 10-1/2 x 1
Mix brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and vanilla
Stir in flour and salt
Spread the dough in the pan
Bake until light golden brown (18 – 20 minutes)
Cool
Cut in to 2-1/2inch squares
Cut the squares diagonally to make triangles (about 24)
Prepare the topping
Cook and stir the sugar and brown sugar over low heat until sugar is dissolved
Stir in the butter and cream
Heat to boiling
Remove from the heat
Stir in the vanilla and almonds
Pour the topping evenly over the dough
Bake until light brown and set (15 – 20 minutes)
